Been another busy week for me but wanted to share a new find; Geocaching.
I connected with a few new friends on DailyMile last week and as is normal practice for me when I make new online friends I checked out their profile for anything interesting and help with making a stronger network connection. I connected with EricaJean and during a quick scan of her blog found out about Geocaching.
The word Geocache is made up from Geo (Geographic) and Cache (traditionally a small container of provisions and first aid that walkers would leave in secret locations along their routes for retrieval in times of need).
Geocaching is basically a hide and seek game where people hide a cache (which now tends to contain at minimum a log book and most contain other stuff that you can take from the cache so long as you leave something of equal or greater value), then other people try to find it.
To find caches where you are, go to www.geocaching.com, create an account and start searching.
You’ll either need to do some thorough research or have a handheld GPS device; the geocaching website will give you the GPS coordinates to find the cache, and then off you go!
I’m just starting to get into this so at this point can’t offer much more information but intend to cover this subject with some more posts in the coming months.
I get the impression that this has been around for a while but I’m amazed I haven’t come across Geocaching before.
Until the next post.
