About
Hi, I’m Steve Dangerfield and thanks for taking the time to read about me, my motivation for blogging and what this blog is all about.
I live in Rotherham (South Yorkshire, England, UK). By day I’m a freelance Project Management Consultant who helps project managers manage projects. In the evenings and weekends I dabble in a range of hobbies and interests which in the main include; Astronomy, Photography, Cooking, Gardening, Reading (Bio/AutoBio), and Walking. I am also actively pursuing a change in the way I work with the development of my Portfolio Career.
So, why am I sharing this Blog’s content with the rest of the world?
The reason I’m sharing all this is in the hope that you will be able truly ’connect’ with me to build an online professional relationship. Now, when I say connect I don’t mean just link up on LinkedIn, friend me on Facebook, or follow (and be followed) on Twitter, but to actually connect, communicate, and collaborate.
The vast majority of the work I do is sourced from Employment Agencies, and the rest is from people that I’ve built up a relationship with; I don’t take work from anyone else; it’s simply better for both you and me; when you and I both know each other well, then you know what you’re going to get and I know what I need to do to give it to you.
Why not have a series of dedicated sites for each subject instead of cramming them all into one?
I’ve done that before and found the management of so many blogs to be too much of an overhead which in turn meant I was not writing very much. The other reason is that I hope to convey the complete me. CVs and one line biographies are OK to get a summarised view of someone but if you really care then you need to invest more time to get to know that person. As they say “from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks”; from the abundance of the blog posts a person conveys themselves. Maybe sometime in the future I’ll get more time to have more blogs.
My main reason for blogging?
Self Promotion. Most people thing that’s a bad thing, but at least I’m being honest, and really it’s only bad when all you talk about is yourself. Through this blog I hope to let people know;
- more about what I’m doing and what I’ve done (when it doesn’t fit into 140 chars on Twitter);
- how I’m developing my portfolio career;
- my thoughts, findings, and experiences in Project Management;
- how I implement and use GTD (Getting Things Done) and other tips for enhanced productivity and motivation;
- what personal and professional development tips I’ve found;
- more about Astronomy;
- how my photography interests are progressing;
- what I’m cooking and fruit-liquor marinating
- my thoughts of books I’ve read and events I’ve attended;
- other information that I want to throw into the mix.
You’ll also find some posts that date back before I started this blog and these are posts that I’ve written in the past on other blogs that I’m now combining into this blog.
Thanks again, and hope you enjoy reading the posts.
Steve
