Help
Just thought I would write this page for my readers that are new to the world of Blogging.
Blog is the short term for Weblog. As part of it’s name suggests a Weblog is a log of thoughts, opinions, and findings all held on a website.
Just like a log (or diary) Blog entries, or posts as they are commonly referred to, are entered sequentially and usually indexed by date and category.
So, How do I read a Blog and find out when the Blog author creates a new post?
This is where RSS (Real Simple Syndication) comes in. Instead of having to go to the blog to see if there is a new article, RSS does the job for you. Don’t worry about the technicalities; that’s the Blog authors job.
The best way of collating all of your blogs is through a blogreader/newsreader. There are lots of these freely available; I use Bloglines and NewsGator.
Bloglines is simple to use and you can access it from any internet connected terminal; all you have to do is register and then add the blog address.
For this blog you would click Add, enter http://stevedangerfield.com/ in the URL box and click Subscribe – easy! You then go to bloglines.com, login, and all your subscribed blogs are there for you to read.
With NewsGator I have a plugin installed for Microsoft Outlook and subscribe to Blogs in a similar way to Bloglines.
If you need any further help feel free to contact me and I’ll do my best to help you out.
